Even though after decades of having aquvarium ,we are still having fasciation for fish.Like a small boy when ever possible i will go and gaze at the fish.What now i feel is people are treating fish as an object not as a living thing.please note not all.They set the tank according to their own will and pleasure not to the fish requirement.The water will be crystal clear  and the tank will have marbles ,plastics ,rubber etc.The water should not be very clear,The tank must have natural rocks(this also to suit the fish),live plants etc.We must know what the fish likes not what we like.We like burger but the fish like the worm.
My message is we must give the fish what it wanted and the tank should not be like a piece of art.

The embedded video you saw  about the beautiful aquarium transcends.This is not something impossible,this is certainly possible if we wanted and give some attention.

SWEET FISH

By natural instrint human  beings have an affinity for fish.From children to grown ups,they want to view,touch and catch.They want to live and have them by their side, Due to this may be aquarium have developed.Every body want to catch and play.I have posted a you tube video in which a lady has the imagination and fun to catch a fish.

When you go out on a vacation.

It is a problem for a pet owner when he wants to go for a vacation.we have to be very careful and think ahead.When we are going on vacation we are giving the responsibility to our family member,neighbour or to a friend.We must be sure whether they are having interest ,capacity and responsibility to do the job.You must tell them how much to feed,how many times to feed and how to put the filter system.If you are going on a longer time how to maintain the tank.If the population of the fish according the volume of the tank we can leave the fish for a few days.Filter system is very important if they forget to put on ,it will end in disaster.

What we can do.

1)We can leave our pets in charge of a person who do the job.
2)We can leave the pets in a reputed aquarium who can take care.
3)We can leave to a friend who is having a aquarium and take care.

GOLD FISH

1. About the fish:

In the video the fish you saw are my pets.The tank you saw in the video only for the video session not a permanent place.Gold Fish is the most beautiful,liked by all,hardy,easy to keep fish.Its scientific name Carassius auratus.Gold fish was first developed in eastern asia.It came from yellow,pink carp.The gold fish which we are having came from centuries of hard work by our fore fathers.It came by mutation and by selective breeding to varies colours,tails,eyes etc.








Character:








Gold fish is a good fish means ,it won't fight with other fish,very hardy but not the hybrids.The character of fish depends from where they bred.It will also consume lot of oxygen so when calculating the size of the tank,you have to provide 45 liters of watter per fish.The gold fish can recognise the owner so he must have eye contact and even talk to them.We cannot have all kinds of gold fish in one tank,particularly the hybrids.Since it is domesticated it can live only with us.







Feeding:







This is a omnivorous,so it can eat all kinds of food .We have to serious note that live food will not only infect the fish but also will bring parasites.I prefer good quality flouting pellet from good source.Sinking food will get into gaps and spoil the water.Gold fish will go on eating and die so you must the feed what it eats in the morning for five minutes ,is the food requirement. If you are having time and don't forget you can divide it for two meals,this will make the fish stay active.if you are having many kinds of fish you have to watch because fast type will eat all the food.You can cut the fish meat into small pieces which the fish can eat,wash it and feed them













Caring:






Once we set our aquarium,a big responsibility falls on us.As we take care of our babies,the fish is also like a baby and it is our duty to take care of them.Gold fish consumes more oxygen so in the beginning it self we must provide space(each fish big or small 45 litres per fish)Gold fish can grow upto 10 inches and more.We have to observe closely for colour variation,movement variation,parasites,blisters etc.Do not keep varies types of gold fish in the same tank.gold fish is a cold water fish so must avoid hi.gh temperatures.In office or at home you should not switch off ac or heater suddenly because it will give thermal shock which can lead to sickness or even death.It is better to keep gold fish seperately. Its colour will change according to its environment.So the stones and other items can be same colour of the fish.

Quarantine For Fish

Quarantine is a period of time to a max of forty days to keep new fish ,plant rock etc. which are going to be introduced to the Aquarium.This is a separate tank which will have the same requirement as the Aquarium.This must have the requirement of water for the fish.Even if have bought the fish from a reputed source it will carry some bad bacteria ,parasite,disease etc.The requirement of a quarantine tank.

1.The water quality must be of the main aquarium and have the volume capacity for the new fish.

2.This must have good filtering system.

3.Keep the fish etc into the rock salt water{one table spoon for 5 litres of water}three times in the 40 days.

4.Look for parasite like anchor worm,fish lice,skin flukes and disease lie white spot,fin rot etc.Symptom ,the fish will scratch on rocks and on surface,colour will become pale,the fish will come to the surface.You can get medicine from aquarium store after telling the symptoms.

5.Feed the medicine mixed feeds.

6.Treat the plant rock etc the same way.

FATAL ACCIDENTS HAPPENED

For Human:

1.When electricity and water are together you have to be very careful.In aquarium there are electrical items like light,submerged motors etc.Any item can fail,here failure is fatal.so, First switch off the power before you put your hand in aquarium.

2.The air motor must be above the water level at least 3 feet.Because if it is below the water level ,in off condition water will enter the moter through pipe.and give electricl shock.see fig.1.

For fish:

1.when you are introducing new fish to the tank ,you cannot put the fish into the tank directly.If the difference in temp. of the new fish bag and the fish tank is more,either the fish will get sick or die.So as shown in the fig.2 put the fish with bag into the tank ,till the temp of the bag and the tank becme same.

2.When you change the water in the aquarium ,see that the temp. of the new water and the tank water are same.If the temp. difference is more ,the fish will become sick or die.

Toxins In Aquarium

In olden days a proverb used to be told,if a well is not used ,it will get spoiled.The well must be always agitated and replaced .Stagnated water will always polluted,if it is a well or a pond ,If it is a small tank the position will be very bad.So it is always good the water must be systematically removed and replaced partially.The parameters to be controlled in a fish tank.

1.Ammonia

2.Nitrite.

3.Nitrate.

4.pH value.

5.water hardness.

6.Chlorine.

7.Pure water.

8.Carbon dioxide.

1.Ammonia:

This is the number one toxin This is created by fish waste and excess fish food.we must keep the water clean by changing the water and feeding the fish to the required amount.Provide good filter system.

2.Nitrite:

This is a very toxin matter and a product from ammonia.This must be zero and it will lead to brown blood and other deadly disease.

3.Nitrate:

This is a product from nitrite.Though this will be used as a fertilizer for the plants in excess it is toxin.

4.PH value.:

lowest is acidic and highest alkaline.though neutral is favoured by many fish ,each fish has its own value.More variation will affect the fish.

5.Water hardness:

low hardness means less salt and more hardness means higher salt content.low hardness not good.

6.Chlorine:

In drinking water chlorine is mixed for protection,but for fish it is toxic.some chemicals are available in the market for removing chlorine.

7.Pure water:

Like dirty water,pure very clean water also not good.bacteria cannot thrive in very clean water.Nitrogen cycle cannot happen without bacteria.

8.carbon dioxide:

This is the product of fish,plant and bacterial respiration.this can be controlled by changing water,photosynthesis, and big water surface.

Oscar Fish

The oscar is a very popular and aristocratic fish.It is a joy to have this fish around.This originated from south america and it is also found in some other parts of the world.
This is from cichlid family and its scientfic name "astronotus ocellatos".The red tiger oscar is very famous also there are red oscar,pink oscar,veil tail oscar,albino oscar etc.
It will change it colour to its mood.It can get aggressive and these must be kept in groups of more than five.An adult fish needs 50 gallons of water which also must be clean.It cannot live in cold water and needs of temp.75to 85 degree fahrenheit.
It is better to be fed by prepared food bought from a reputed store.It is advisable not to fed by live food since it may infect.
The tiger oscar shown in photo,i had for 10 years,the fish very beautiful,active and a friend.When i went abroad for six months ,i gave the responsibility of keeping the fish to my neighbour.He did not kept it to the requirement and when i returned i saw the fish in bad condition.The fish got brown blood disease due the high build up of nitriteThe golden rule is the water must be kept clean at any cost with no excuse The message if you have clean water 99.9% of the problems you can avoid.

1.fish chasing.
this may be due to sex activities or due to aggressive fishes.if aggressive it will chase and bite all fishes.keep the aggressive fish for four days in separate bottle as shown in fig.001.it will calm down.
2.aeration.
it is an ideal condition of 24 hours aeration it will promote nitrosomonas bacteria which will eliminate toxins.
3.easy to maintain fish.
gold fish and mollies are easy to maintain.gold fish can live upto decades.
